Body wave, loose wave, deep wave or water wave? Choosing a wave texture
Short answer: body wave (Hạ Long Wave) is the open "S" that suits everyone and blends with a leave-out; loose wave (Marée) is wider and more glamorous from 22"; deep wave (Profonde) is tight and defined and is what most Tanzanians call "water wave"; natural wave (Sauvage) is raw hair sold as it grew.

How each behaves in Dar humidity
All four are steam-set on virgin hair (Sauvage is not set at all), so humidity does not undo them; if anything the wave tightens slightly on a damp day. Deep wave holds its definition wet or dry, which is why it is the beach favourite. Body wave relaxes to a soft bend after a week and springs back after a wash.
Length changes the look
- 14": body wave reads almost straight with a flick; deep wave gives a full, bouncy bob.
- 20": the sweet spot for all four; body wave frames the face, deep wave gives the wet look.
- 26" and longer: loose wave comes into its own; deep wave needs Super Double drawn or a fourth bundle to keep weight at the ends.
Matching your leave-out
Relaxed or pressed natural hair blends with body wave and loose wave after one pass of a wand. Type 3 natural hair blends with deep wave; type 4 blends better with the curly collection (Burmese or kinky curly) than with any wave.
Styling between washes
Refresh waves with water and a light mousse, scrunch, air-dry. Wide-tooth comb only, from the ends. To straighten for a change, use a heat protector and a flat iron under 180 °C; the wave returns after the next wash because it was set by steam, not chemicals.

Is water wave the same as deep wave?
In Tanzania "water wave" usually means the tight, defined deep wave pattern. Malvié sells it as Profonde. Some sellers use "water wave" for a looser wet-look curl; ask for a photo at your length.
Which wave is best for a first wig?
Body wave (Hạ Long Wave). It is the easiest to install and blend, forgiving between washes, and looks good at every length from 12" to 30".
Do waves go straight in the rain?
No. Malvié waves are steam-set into virgin hair and return after every wash. They only straighten if you flat-iron them, and then come back on the next wash.
How much shorter does a 20 inch deep wave wear?
About 17". Waves are measured stretched; deep wave wears roughly 3" shorter, body and loose wave about 2".
