Why virgin hair lifts cleanly
Bleach works by opening the cuticle and dissolving pigment. Hair that has already been processed at the factory (acid-washed, silicone-coated, pre-dyed black) has a damaged cuticle, so bleach goes in unevenly and the strand loses elasticity. Virgin Vietnamese hair has one intact cuticle layer and natural pigment only, so a 20-volume developer lifts it evenly in 45–60 minutes.
Salon method that works

- Rinse, then tone with a violet or blue-based toner for 10–15 minutes to remove yellow.
- Deep condition with a protein-free mask, air-dry.
- Knots on closures and frontals: bleach lightly for 15 minutes with a thick paste, so the lace stays invisible.
