How many bundles do you need for a full head? Length by length
Short answer: two bundles for a bob (8–14"), three for shoulder to mid-back (16–24"), three to four for 26" and longer. Add a closure for a natural part or a frontal for a full hairline. A Malvié bundle weighs 100 g, so ten bundles make one kilo.
Why length changes the count
A weft is sewn in rows around the head. The longer the hair, the more rows you need at the ends so the style does not look thin at the bottom. Straight hair also shows thinness faster than curls, which take up room. That is why Lisse (straight) at 24" wants a third bundle, while a 24" kinky curly unit can look full with less weight.

Closure or frontal?
A closure covers only the parting area and is the everyday choice in Dar es Salaam: quick to install, glueless options, no baby-hair maintenance. The slim 2×4 and 2×6 sizes give the most natural middle part and use the least lace, which is why East African stylists ask for them. 4×4 and 5×5 give room to change the parting. A 13×4 or 13×6 frontal runs ear to ear, so you can wear the hair off the face or in a high ponytail, and it pairs with longer lengths.
Single, Double or Super Double drawn
Grade describes how many strands in the bundle reach the full length. Single drawn tapers like natural hair and is the lightest; Double drawn (the Malvié standard) keeps about three quarters of the strands at full length; Super Double is almost blunt and gives the fullest ends. For a blunt bob or a long straight style, Super Double saves you a bundle.

How many bundles for a 20 inch sew-in?
Three 100 g bundles plus a closure (2×6, 4×4 or 5×5) or a leave-out. For Super Double drawn hair, two bundles and a closure can be enough for a bob-to-shoulder style.
What is the difference between a 2×6 and a 4×4 closure?
Both cover the parting. The 2×6 is a slim strip that gives a deep, natural middle part with very little lace; the 4×4 is a square that lets you move the part to the side. The 2×4 and 2×6 are the most requested sizes in Tanzania.
How much does a bundle weigh?
Every Malvié bundle weighs 100 g whatever the length; ten bundles make one kilo. Closures weigh 20–40 g and frontals 70–80 g.
Do curly textures need more bundles?
Usually the same number, but never fewer: curls are measured stretched and wear 3–4 inches shorter, and they need the full weight to keep their volume.
